Campervan Shows: Cooking Demo, Special Vans and Gorgeous Smells at The Harrogate Motorhome Show, Yorkshire

Last Weekend, Glyn and I went north to beautiful Yorkshire as I was giving a campervan cooking demo at The Harrogate Motorhome Show. There were some unusual vehicles at the show and we inevitably bought new bits of kit for the van at the stalls. We arrived a couple of days early to explore the area a bit first and really enjoyed our day in Harrogate (serious cake as you will see later)….

Cooking Demo

Glyn and I started off the day with a serious cooked breakfast in the gorgeous, on-site cafe at the showground…

… And I then gave a cooking demo of some of my favourite, campervan recipes including: Chilli con Beanie, a chicken risotto and the infamous Fruit Yogam…

Interesting Vehicles

One of the most interesting campervans at the show was the Trail-Breaker from Brook Miller Leisure that you can see in the main picture. Being 4 x 4 it can go over terrains that most other campers can’t and it is already very popular in the States and Australia. Brook Miller have also adapted a motorhome for people with disabilities which includes a mechanised lifting ramp for a wheelchair. Check out Brook Miller website

I like to use as many natural products as possible so it was great to find a stall selling natural, essential oil bug repellent. Excellent for summer evenings sitting outside the camper. Check out The Oil Hut who do mail order.

Campsite Recommendation

This is Glyn cooking up a serious man-breakfast at a great campsite that we found just north of Leeds. It’s called Glenfield Caravan Park and it’s a small, quiet site in a lovely location with showers block to die for. Gemma who owns the site is friendly and helpful too. Checkout Glenfield Caravan park here

Harrogate is an elegant spa town with great shopping and places to eat. Glyn and I are coffee geeks and we found a great cafe off the beaten track that served proper, velvety lattes and probably the best chocolate brownie in the world. It’s Scandinavian-inspired and only recently opened and its a called Starling Beer and Coffee House.  Checkout Starling Cafe here  While I was there I had a really refreshing but simple drink that would be great for hot summer days in the campervan: Cucumber Water. I think I might add some slices of fresh lime too.

So really enjoyed our time in Harrogate and we would definitely recommend it for a camping destination.
