Can there be anything more exciting than picking up your new campervan! Well maybe, but probably not for the campervan geeks and dreamers in the world. A few days ago, we collected our new campervan, a Toyota Alphard converted by Northstar Conversions, from the Isle of Wight. While we were there, we had a weekend camping with him to get to know him and so that Northstar could do any tweaks that were necessary. Here is what happened…

Yay, We Have a New Campervan (well almost)!
Glyn and I are just back from the Isle of Wight where we ordered our new Toyota Alphard campervan from Northstar Conversions. This time we are not going to convert it ourselves as we did with Big Red, our Vivaro, (don’t think our relationship would survive it!). This time we are having a bespoke design based on Northstar’s new mobile office/weekend camper concept which is totally brilliant and is what really works for our current style of camping. Let me tell you more…

Ooohh it feels good… we have just started to build the bed and in a campervan conversion that often means that you are getting near to completing the main build (not that they are ever really finished of course).

QUEST FOR A NEW CAMPERVAN: Sod it, we’ll do it ourselves!
You find me in a defiant mood at the moment, which may lead to disaster, but I have just had enough of trying to find subcontractors who can help us with our campervan build. I have no idea how we are going to make this happen but, sod it, we’ll do it ourselves!

QUEST FOR A NEW CAMPERVAN: Our New Mission – Create a Contemporary campervan for £7000
I’m always amazed at the enthusiastic reactions I get from people when I tell them about our campervan, Trev-the-Prev. Mostly I get a big smile followed by “Oh I’d love to do that!” and I realise that so many people secretly want to ‘live the (campervan) dream’. It was the same for Glyn and I when we hired a campervan on a Groupon three years ago and got bitten by the bug but just didn’t have a hope of affording any van that we’d seen. So now my mission is to create a modern campervan from a panel van for £7000 (all in) and I hope that this will inspire people without a £30k+ budget to get their own and live their dream, too. Here’s how I plan to do it…
EXPERT Q & A: What Does the Editor of a Campervan Magazine Choose When He is buying a New Campervan?
So what van does the Editor of a Campervan magazine choose for HIS camper? Peter Rosenthal edits Campervan magazine and has seen, tried and photographed more campervans than you and I have had hot dinners so I was intrigued to find out what van he has chosen for his new campervan and why…
Quest for a New Campervan : Which Van is Best?
So which van have we decided on in the end? Well, this was all becoming a bit of a Grand Design and to get to that decision (which to date is still not set in stone) we have had to follow a long research road that has had lots of twists and turns. Everybody you speak to seems to throw another consideration in to the mix which sometimes seems to confuse the question more. It really is like buying a new house and secretly I am loving every minute…

Quest for a New Campervan: What Sort of Camper are You?
As much as we love Trev-the-Prev (our converted Toyota Previa) Glyn and I feel that it is now time for our next campervan. As we won’t have the full funds until later this year, I have decided to launch myself on a full-on ‘Van Quest’, diving deep in to research on what our next van should be and the sort of questions everyone should ask themselves when they go on their own quest for a new campervan. It’s proving to be quite a journey and I’ll be sharing it with you over the next few weeks…
