Campervan Christmas Presents: Kitchen Kit that might give you a Silicone Fetish

Here are a few ideas for great bits of kitchen kit that you can buy for your family or friends who are in to camping, campervanning or caravanning. Of course, these clever little items are also really useful to use at home too and sometimes I buy two identical ones so that I can have one in the house and leave the other in the van…

Any of you who read my blog or books will know by now that I have a growing silicone fetish. I just love all the clever, colourful silicone items that you can get for the kitchen now and silicone lids are probably at the top of the list. They are great on saucepans or on top of a bowl and you can even get ones for your mug to keep your tea warm. Checkout Silicone Lid set on Amazon

You can also buy sets of stretchy lids that you can use to cover leftovers in a bowl in the fridge – no need for clingfilm.

We just love our collapsible kettle as it saves quite a bit of room in the van as solid kettles are an awkward shape and can take up quite a bit of space. As the Outwell Collaps Kettle has a stainless steel bottom it means that it can also work on an induction hob which is great if you have a portable induction hob in the van like we do.

You can also buy collapsible food bowls with lids which are great for storing any leftovers or you can even use them as a bowl for cereal.

I always find it useful to have a whisk in my kitchen kit in the van for things like pancakes, scrambled egg and salad dressings but I don’t want a big, bulky one so these silicone micro whisks are great.

You can often buy them in garden centre cookshops but you can also get them on Amazon  Checkout the Micro Whisks on Amazon

You might also find it useful to have some silicone tongs in the van for moving bacon around or food on the BBQ.

Another great idea is the silicone heat-resistant mitt. I like the cute animal ones but there are more grown-up designs if you prefer.

As you can see, once you dive in to the world of silicone there is no end to the gorgeous, fun stuff you can find and, like me, you may find that it becomes a bit of an obsession!

N.B. I have provided links to the products on Amazon as it is often easiest to get them from there but if you shop around online you might get them cheaper.
