QUEST FOR A NEW CAMPERVAN: Is My Design Really So Weird?

I’ve been a bit quiet on the Campervan Quest front lately because I have been experiencing an ‘interesting’ struggle to find somebody who can help us convert our Vivaro van in the way we want it to be converted. I don’t think our design is that weird but, is it just me, or are there only 2 ways of converting a campervan at the moment  – Do-It-Yourself or an expensive, standard conversion by a professional converter who has a 6-months waiting list? I was feeling a bit down about it, but the Fates have provided a solution and I am really excited about it now…

CAMPERVAN DAYS OUT: Wasabi, Smartphone Food and a Strange Incident

Last weekend Glyn and I had a fantastic time at the Abergavenny Food Festival in Wales. This festival happens every year in September and is a bit like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival except that, instead of the town being covered in comedy, it is covered in FOOD! We ate LOTS of good food and bought foodie items from some great local producers but there was a strange incident that still remains a mystery…

CAMPERVAN RECIPE: What Can I Do With All These Bloomin’ Courgettes…?

At this time of year there are often a lot of courgettes in the shops at cheap prices or, if you grow your own, then you probably have a few to eat up. Sometimes they are quite large and not so nice to eat raw (love them spiralized)  or lightly cooked so what is the best way to use them up? This is how I do it…

How to Get your Coffee–Fix When You Are Camping

I don’t know about you, but Glyn and I are coffee geeks and are pretty fussy about the coffee we drink. We were treated to proper morning coffee on-site when we recently stayed at The Tavistock Camping & Caravan Club site – our favourite campsite on Dartmoor in Devon. Kate, from Peace and Coffee, brings her cute coffee wagon on site most mornings and makes a great cup of coffee. But how can you make real coffee in your own campervan at any time of the day? I decided to find out what sort of coffee kit is out there for us campers…

CAMPERVAN RECIPES: Sweet and Sour Chicken Kebabs

Another great recipe from Kim at Kim’s Cravings! These Sweet and Sour Chicken Kebabs look really easy and tasty as well as nutritious. In fact so quick and easy it is the sort of thing you could throw together for a weeknight, ‘sponny’* BBQ in the garden after work on a warm evening.

*’Sponny’ is the word my New Zealand friend uses to describe anything spontaneous and fun.

QUEST FOR A NEW CAMPERVAN: Our New Mission – Create a Contemporary campervan for £7000

I’m always amazed at the enthusiastic reactions I get from people when I tell them about our campervan, Trev-the-Prev. Mostly I get a big smile followed by “Oh I’d love to do that!” and I realise that so many people secretly want to ‘live the (campervan) dream’. It was the same for Glyn and I when we hired a campervan on a Groupon three years ago and got bitten by the bug but just didn’t have a hope of affording any van that we’d seen. So now my mission is to create a modern campervan from a panel van for £7000 (all in) and I hope that this will inspire people without a £30k+ budget to get their own and live their dream, too. Here’s how I plan to do it…

CAMPERVAN RECIPES: More-ish Lamb Burgers from Moor-ish Dartmoor (sorry..)

We are not long back from a magical weekend on Dartmoor in Devon which is one of my favourite places to camp and explore. I had a pack of lamb mince from home which needed using up and I was trying to think of how to best use it in a campervan recipe. As it turned out it made 2 meals for us: some gorgeous healthy burgers and some meatballs for a pasta dish the next day…
